Workshop: Yoga for Athletes – 26th January 2020 4.00pm to 6.00pm

Date: Sunday October 13th from 4.00pm to 6.00pm

Venue: Down to Earth, Islington - London 

This workshop will be split into two parts. In the first part, we will move through sequences and postures targeting all the major muscle groups in both the upper and lower parts of the body. Aspects of this might mirror the experience of other sports and general all body workouts. This phase of the class will also help  develop  balance,  coordination  and  create  a  connection  between breath  and  movement.  There will be an emphasis on alignment and tuning into the unique nature of your own body.

The second part will focus on restorative and yin poses which are often held for several minutes with relaxed musculature to encourage fascia (connective tissue), surrounding bones, muscles, ligaments and tendons, to ease and open. This facilitates a deep release in tight areas of the body and expands flexibility. With its focus on recovery and restoration, this phase of the class ideally compliments the dynamic experience as well as any dynamic sporting activity you might participate in. It offers an opportunity to relax and replenish the body.
